Asian Centre for Human Rights is dedicated to promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the Asian region by:providing accurate and timely information and complaints to the National Human Rights Institutions, the United Nations bodies and mechanisms as appropriate;conducting investigation, research, campaigning and lobbying on country situations or individual cases; increasing the capacity of human rights defenders and civil society groups through relevant trainings on the use of national and international human rights procedures;providing input into international standard-setting processes on human rights;providing legal, political and practical advice according to the needs of human rights defenders and civil society groups; and by securing the economic, social and cultural rights through rights-based approaches to development.

The Latin American Association of Promotion. It is an association of non-governmental organizations focused on development. They are from 20 countries from Latin America and the Carribean. Created in 1979 it is one of the strongest efforts of regional integration of organizations in the region.

Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Incorporated in May 1984, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) is a 501 non-profit organization whose mission is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. CCH advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being and stability of those it serves. Organized in response to the increase in homelessness throughout Colorado, CCH has developed and implemented numerous programs designed to create systemic change and provide direct services.  These services include health care, mental health care, substance treatment services, family support services, children’s programs and affordable housing.  CHH annually serves over 13,000 homeless individuals, families and children statewide.

FEANTSA
It is the European Federation of National Organisations working with the Homeless, was established in 1989 as a European non-governmental organisation (in French, FEANTSA stands for la Fédération Européenne d'Associations Nationales Travaillant avec les Sans-Abri).

The some 100 member organisations of FEANTSA come from 30 European countries, including all 27 Member States of the European Union. Members are non-governmental organisations that provide a wide range of services to homeless people including accommodation and social support. Most of the members of FEANTSA are national or regional umbrella organisations of service providers. They often work in close co-operation with public authorities, social housing providers and other relevant actors.

Forum de Autoridades Locales Since their first meeting which took place within the WSF 2001, FAL´s focus has been directed towards the debate about the difficulties of public municipal administration that expresses increasing inequalities. The objective is to promote the city as an important agent in the globalization process. They advocate for inclusion of the city as an instrument to stop social exclusion and so create inclusive policies for citizen related themes. Their emphasis is on local government’s inclusive development. They are based in Brazil.

Forum Nacional de Reforma Urbana
The Fórum Nacional de Reforma Urbana is a group of Brazilian organizations working for better cities for all. They are popular movements, class associations, NGOs and research institutions working towards urban reform. What does that mean? It means we need to fight for policies that guarantee basic rights to all, such as the right to quality housing, water and sanitary systems, as well as efficient and accessible transportation.

NACHU is the acronym for the NATIONAL COOPERATIVE HOUSING UNION. It is a national organization registered in 1979 under the Cooperative Societies Act (Cap 490). Its creation was a result of efforts by humanitarian organizations in the Kenya that saw the need for an institution at the national level to address and coordinate shelter issues.

SDI   Slum Dwellers International
The objective of SDI is to assist and empower landless and homeless groups and organizations in their quest for land, formal housing, infrastructure and services, livelihood opportunities and other basic needs by way of the exchange of skills, resources, ideas and strategies. While each of these specific areas of activity is vital, the overall goal is to ensure the poor have a voice, choice, right and capacity to design and manage their own urban development solutions. A further objective of the network is to create an international voice of the urban poor.

 

 

Sociologos Sin Fronteras SSF is composed of professionals and students that project a large percentage of their efforts towards international solidarity. With important links to Northern Africa and Latin America, in which its citizens (some of which have been our students in our Faculties) suffer from defenceless stature that spurs from the complicity between corrupt local governments and greedy multinational corporations.
